How Paladin Secure Began
The Beginning
Being unsatisfied with working for another company, Steve decided that things could be improved if he started his own company and did things the way he wanted.
Thinking along the lines of... ‘It does what it says on the tin...’, Steve opened up a Thesaurus page and entered words like Security, Guard, Protector and Night Watchman and such. Then, he looked at the synonyms and sought a similar word to ‘Security’. But this word ‘Paladin’ kept cropping up, so he entered Paladin and saw it read...
Paladin:
- A heroic champion (especially a knightly one).
- A defender or advocate of a noble cause. (A defender of faith).
- Any of the twelve Companions of the court of Emperor Charlemagne.
There was no turning back - Paladin was the word for him. Paladin Security was a dissolved company in England and also existed in Canada, so he went with a slightly different name. One that embodied ensuring public safety and championing the secure feeling he wanted to provide for his clients. Thus, towards the end of 2010, Paladin Secure was born.
A Paladin
The term "paladin" historically refers to a knight or a champion of a cause, often associated with qualities such as bravery, honour, and loyalty. In medieval literature, paladins were legendary figures who served noble leaders and fought for justice, often exemplifying the ideals of chivalry. The word has evolved to embody the notion of a hero or protector, someone who champions the rights of others and stands against evil. In modern contexts, a paladin may also represent individuals or organizations dedicated to upholding justice, safeguarding the vulnerable, and promoting righteousness in society.
Our Logo
Having a Knight as a logo was too cliché, but Steve decided he wanted some sort of predator. It needed to be something that looked good on a company tie, whilst sending a message to any would-be troublemakers. It needed to be something that on a site warning board would subconsciously tell any trespassers, ‘If you come on here, we’re going to get you...’
Why the hawk? Hawks are known for speed, hunting skills, and keen eyesight. They are fierce and versatile predators who are capable of hunting both in the sky and on the ground, watching out for their prey and their territories.
Along came the ‘Paladin’ Hawk.
